During the years I attended Oakland Community College, every instructor from most of my drawing classes assigned the class one or more self portraits. As a result, I have accumulated many portraits of myself. I didn't want my portraits to look the same, so I decided to make each portrait suggest a mood, state of mind, or emotion. To do this, I had to manipulate the eyes, forehead, and mouth. Contrast of color, stroke, level of blending were also used to create the desired end result. Most of these drawing were class assignments.

I have chosen a small variety of things for your viewing enjoyment. These drawings were created using charcoal and pastel chalks. If you would like specific information on any of my drawings, then contact me via email at: mitchelljrose@sbcglobal.net

Paper, pencils, charcoal, erasers, smugger's, and ambition are the tools of this trade. The tools are very basic but the results are limitless.
