This oil painting was created from a picture that I acquired while I was on location just outside of the little town of Davisberg. I used a Canon Elan II with a 28 mm lens and Agfa Ultra 50 film. This is a very slow speed film, so I had to use a tripod to get a good clear shot. It was about 10:00 a.m. in the morning on a clear autumn day. There wasn't any movement in the air yet to cause any ripples in the waters reflection. The surface of the water was like glass. This painting is actually a smaller version work up of the larger version of the "Davisberg Pond" oil painting. Sometimes I paint a small version of a larger painting to look for and discover problems if any. I am usually looking for potential problems with color. This small work up is very spontaneous, minimal, and pure. All of my strokes are simply put in and not worked or blended. This is a beautiful painting of a colorful wetland during the autumn fall color season in Davisberg Michigan. I love painting waterscapes because the beauty of the scene is double in the surface of the waters reflection. If you like oil paintings, wetland paintings, pond paintings, landscape paintings, or nature paintings, you will like this one Titled: Davisberg Pond 2. |
