This painting was created from a picture that I acquired while I was on location just outside of the little town of Davisberg. I used a Canon Elan II with a 28 mm lens and Agfa Ultra 50 film. This is a very slow speed film, so I had to use a tripod to get a good clear shot. It was about 10:00 a.m. in the morning on a clear autumn day. There wasn't any movement in the air yet to cause any ripples in the waters reflection. The surface of the water was like glass. I enjoy this oil painting a great deal by myself. I often stare at it while I am on the phone talking to a friend. I started this painting as an under-painting using an impressionistic technique. I accidentally captured the life force/energy of the land and decided to sign and date it when I noticed this fact. I never did complete the process of finishing the painting, I decided to stop after the second process often referred to as under-painting. This is the stage in paintings before the highlights are added to the art work. When I stare at it, I often feel as thought I am there again at the same moment I took the picture of this fall color waterscape. |
