The Mendenhall Glacier |

This painting was created from a picture in a book. I was working on the use of pallet knives for working oil paints onto canvas. I found these mountains to be a good test for the discovery process. This is a famous glacier that is a favorite tourist spot and is located somewhere in Alaska. The painting really gives you the feeling of a cold and frozen environment. The use of the cool dark hues and the suggestion of snow and frozen ice both convey the coolness of the oil painting. |
