This is an impressionistic waterscape oil painting that was created from a picture taken by Mitchell J. Rose while on vacation in Mio Michigan. The picture turned out so nice that an oil painting had to be created from the image.  The photo of the image can also be viewed in the picture gallery at The Art Gallery Gate.

The color of the sky really was this blue and made for a beautiful photo as well as a painting. I have had good luck with the weather while up in Mio on vacation over the years. Doing photography also adds to the fun of the vacation.

This painting Of the Ausable River stirs up fond memories when I look at it. It reminds me of the people I had fun with and the adventure we explored together.

My brush strokes are very suggestive and spontaneous in this painting.  Everything seemed to simple happen according to some sort of grand plan that was unknown to me.  I just love the deep rich tints and hues of blue.
