This is a watercolor painting of a stand of Birch Trees in a forest. I have spent many hours of my youth up North with my grandfather on his 80 acres in Harrison Michigan. There are many Birch trees up there. I have always had fond memories of them, so I painted this watercolor of them.
This stand of Birch Trees is close to some of the low land on my grandpa's eighty acres were my brother and myself were allowed to shoot the .22 rifle. We would set up tin cans and paper targets and see who was that best shot. We had great fun. Grandfather was the best marksman because we were just young boys in the process of learning.
When I was in the process of creating this watercolor painting I remember many of the good times that I spent with my Grandfather Leon Rose up north at the cabin on Lily Lake.
The woods in northern Michigan can be a great place to be and creating a watercolor painting of it is great fun and inspiration.
