This is an impressionistic oil painting that I did for my friend Kim.  I painted a sunset for her many years ago.  Her daughter also liked the painting and she asked for the painting as a gift.  Kim gave it to her when she grew up and left home but missed the painting after a while.  I decided to paint this one for her to replace the one she gave to her daughter. 

I just started the painting Friday and worked on it for about an hour. This is what one of my paintings looks like before I detail it. I hope she likes it.

I think I am going the make the purple hues much darker using more blue and black into the purple mix. The sky will be more purple, blue, pink, and yellow and the reflection of the sky in the water will be made much darker.

I still haven't decided about the tree line. It seems a little too detailed for a back-lighting (sunset) situation. I will decide after I change the reflection in the water.
