This is the painting of the Davisburg Pond that I created first. I sometimes do a small 1st painting to see if I can find any potential problems that I will need to deal with. As you can see, this first workup is a very minimal impressionistic version of the completed large painting that will be completed next.
This painting was created from a picture that I acquired while I was on location just outside of the little town of Davisburg. I used a Canon Elan II with a 28 mm lens and Agfa Ultra 50 film. This is a very slow speed film, so I had to use a tripod to get a good clear shot. It was about 10:00 a.m. in the morning on a clear autumn day. There wasn't any movement in the air yet to cause any ripples in the waters reflection. The surface of the water was like glass.
When I stare at it, I often feel as thought I am there again at the same moment I took the picture of this fall color waterscape.
