This is a picture of North shore of the upper dam on the Ausable River in Mio Michigan. This picture reveals several tree stumps on the upper dam on the Ausable River in Mio Michigan.
It was a beautiful day when I took this picture of the upper dam pond in Mio, Michigan, up north. The shoreline was so far away from me that I had to use a three hundred millimeter lens to get this shot.
Over the years, I have seen many small boats, canoes, and kayaks out here on this water. I think the fishing must be pretty good because of the people I have seen out here fishing. They can use natural baits here because this is the upper portion of the Ausable river that is above the Mio dam.
Below the dam, you can only use artificial lures and no natural baits. I have fished the lower Ausable River below the dam and caught walleye and small bass on several occasions. It is mostly known for its rainbow and brown trout fishing.
North of this location on the other side, there is a state access swimming area and also a rustic campgrounds.
